Last summer we had the pleasure of organising an “Olive” themed wedding for a fantastic couple, Diana and Stephan. We were really thrilled when this beautiful young couple from Switzerland chose Umbria for their big day. White camellias and delicate olive tree twigs were the central theme for the decor, both in the Church and at the wedding banquet. Diana and Stephan chose to celebrate their Catholic Wedding ceremony in the magnificent ancient Church of San Michele Arcangelo, one of the most ancient in Perugia. It dates back to the Vth century and it is also called the “small temple” because of its circular shape. It went through many restoration works during the centuries, the last one in 1948, when many ancient frescoes were brought back to light.

There are numerous Gothic arches inside the Church surrounding the altar, which is positioned in the central part of the building. This is the reason why we decided to decorate just the altar. In addition to its magnificent beauty, this Church has an affective value for Diana and Stephan: Diana’s parents got married here and this is the reason of their choice! After the magic “Yes”, witnessed by relatives and friends, our lovely couple went under a shower of rice and enjoyed the spectacular ride in a beautiful vintage car, leading them to the reception location: Castello di Monterone. This Castle dates back to the XIth century and has witnessed a lot of history down through the years. It was severly damaged between the XV and XVI century, because of internal conflicts in the city of Perugia. Restoration and extension works were made between 1849 and 1886, giving the Castle its current structure. The breathtaking view and the magnificent grounds of the Castle were the perfect backdrop for this fairytale wedding in Umbria!
